Entry from: Le Guislain, France, France Entry Title: “Expedition to Normandy” Entry: “This morning we packed up and left our place on the Rhine and set off for Normandy. The trip takes about 8 hours if we don’t stop, and crosses through Germany, Belgium and France. It was a perfect day for a trip, and the van cleared a bug-free path all the way. Towards the end of the trip the kids kept asking if it was raining, because the bugs got to be so thick on the windshield. We only made one wrong turn on this trip, and it only cost a few minutes. We’re getting better at Euro-driving . Best roads on this trip weren’t in Germany though, they were in France. Just goes to show that you get what you pay for, as the roads in Germany are free but the French roads were almost all toll and we paid some EUR 27 to cross from Belgium to Normandy. The place we’re staying is called La Maison Loufrain. It’s a converted stone barn divided into three apartments, furnished in a rustic style. It’s a little cozy for the seven of us but not in a bad way. Has all the things we need (like a washing machine, after 2 weeks of travel), plus a lot of character as well.
