Entry from: Nice, France Entry Title: “The French Riviera!” Entry: “From Cinque Terre, I took the train along the Italian coast and back to France and the French Riviera. I stayed in Nice, and made that my base to explore the coast line. The first day, I walked down into Old Nice, where they have a fresh flower and vegetable market that is set up in the streets. It was pretty large, and bustling with people. I’m sure the locals who were actually there to get their weekly produce were frustrated with all the tourists who were getting in their way. From there, you go south one block and you’re right on the boardwalk and beachfront. I wanted to spend part of the day at the beach, and the staff at my hostel told me the beaches at the next seaside town along the coast, Villafranche, are much nicer, so I decided to walk there (about an hour and a half walk). On the way, I passed the port of Nice and checked out all the million-dollar private yachts. The French Riviera is apparently the place to be if you’ve got a mega-yacht, as they were everywhere! From the port, I walked around the coast to Villafranche and lied on the beach for a few hours…very relaxing. I also walked around the town a little bit and then hiked back to Nice.
