Vlog: I’m going on vacation to parts far and foreign (at least to me). Obviously, this requires traveling. In fact, even at the ridiculous speed of jet airplane travel it requires a large number of hours. Fortunately for the world I do not have the kind of youtube account that allows me to upload videos over nine hours in length. I haven’t posted much lately because I have been incredibly busy at work getting ready to go away for a few weeks. Now I am away for a few weeks but the internet has been hard to come by. Finally I have a good connection so it’s time to post something :)

Entry from: Bouc-Bel-Air, France Entry Title: “Pictures of the Village” Entry: “Pictures of Bouc Bel Air. R&R until we leave. The Sunday storm in Indy has left my house without power. My neighbor’s DEAD tree was struck by lightning and a branch fell on my power line, pulling down my line and ripping the meter from the house. IPL won’t repair the line until I have an electrician run new wire from my fuse box to the meter. It’s a little difficult arranging for an electrician and IPL from France. Entry from: Le Bugue, France Entry Title: “Verdant valley of chateaux et cheveaux” Entry: “On Tuesday morning, due to the frustrating events of the previous day, I’d looked up and booked my next two nights’ accommodation near le Bugue, south of Perigieux in the Dordogne. I’d had enough of taking chances, getting lost and paying through my **** for last minute highway hotels. But at every turn I realise I’ve forgotten something. On the highway, getting worryingly close to Bordeaux, I realised I had no idea how to get to le Bugue, although I had directions from Perigieux to the B&B, I was driving randomly south — away from where I should be heading. A spot of luck found me at a Shell station where I bought a map of France and all its roads as well as a sandwich, my hunger having reached the point of turning my brain to jelly and my nerves to frayed ends. Remember it was now late afternoon and I’d not eaten except for olives and wine! I planned a route via Pons toward Perigieux on the country roads where the views are better than on the freeway — also the freeway didn’t go to Perigieux so I had some justification. Despite the good signage I lost the road and wound through amazing countryside for an extra 45 minutes before finding myself ten kilometres down the road I had been on before and heading for

“Slowly making our way across France” Bretch’s photos around Northen France, France (travel pics)

Entry from: Northen France, France Entry Title: “Slowly making our way across France.” Entry: “Left Honfleur for Le Mont Saint Michel AND got there without hassle. For those that don’t know, St. Michel is kind of like St. Michael in Cornwall, only alot bigger . I’d been told there was free parking a little way off. Before that though, you have to drive through this kind of little town which is purely for tourists – only hotels, motels and restaurants, at night, all you can see are the neon lights for the various places – Frances own tiny Las Vegas… without the gambling…. and the yanks….. then after the town there’s a 2km road, with fields of sheep either side to the little….so called island. Well, the road now goes right up to the place, and parking was €8 for 24hrs for campers, sod that we thought, so drove back to the town and park there for a while and went back after dark. It looks really cool at night all lit up and stuff and we parked up no trouble for free. Walked around what we could, which was quite alot, and quite dangerous. There was loads of restaurants and hotels and a few tourist shops still open, which I think spoils the place. But the architecture looks really cool. We then went to find somewhere to park up for the night, couldn’t find anywhere ‘official’, so stopped by the road

Belleville Neighborhood, Paris (France) – Travel Guide

Posted in France Travel | 4 comments

For a glimpse of Bohemian Paris, take a walk down the neighborhoods of Belleville. The area is a melting pot of various cultures, adding to the colors and caste. Belleville used to be a quaint village and it was annexed in the city of Paris in the 19th century. Belleville somehow has always attracted refugees from all over the world. Now, however, there is another group that returns its place. Artists and party animals. All shops have been converted to art galleries and restaurants, and they are much cuter and cheaper than in other neighborhoods. Like most unplanned townships, the neighborhood has its own charm. The cobbled streets and the stores and old windows make great photographic material. When you come to Belleville, do take a stroll through the Belleville Park, and the view from some spots is just breathtaking. Of course you can see the Eiffel Tower and the big skycraper over there is the Tour Montparnasse. This is Cecile showing you Paris.

Dedicated to Hannah J, one of my dearest and oldest friends. :-) MISS YOU BETCH!

Take a tour of French Village of Lagrasse in Lagrasse, France — part of the World’s Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. When entering the French village of Lagrasse, it looks much as it did centuries ago. The town’s biggest landmark is its fantastic eighth-century abbey, Saint Marie d’Orbieu. Also popular are the town’s medieval bridges which span the river, and serve as common swimming destinations. The town’s narrow streets and alleys are lined by authentic medieval stone buildings. It’s a beautiful place in which to walk and has many sites to explore. With houses perched up against the river back, a rolling hillside backdrop, and ancient yet functional monument, Lagrasse is indeed a beautiful part of France.
